Clan boss summons, fighter bays and nine new languages
Clans can call a world boss home, fighters become free wings with bays and built craft you can trade, NPC carriers launch fighters of their own, and the game now speaks nine more languages.
Clan leaders can now summon a world boss into their own space, and every fighter tender flies free basic fighters, with new Fighter Bays and built fighter craft you can trade. NPC carriers and bosses launch wings of their own, bigger ships are harder to hold with drive tethers, and nine new languages arrive. Squad leaders can send the squad somewhere, clans can hand over leadership and stations safely, your settings follow you to every device, and the Tactical list is grouped into a tidy tree. Thank you for the reports behind every fix.
New
Bosses
- Clan boss summons. A clan leader can call a world boss into the clan home's system or a system the clan holds, from the Territory tab, for 290 million to 390 million credits from the clan treasury. The clan and everyone in the system get a notice before it arrives, anyone there can join the fight, and the boss grows stronger, with a bigger bounty, as more pilots join.
Fighters
- Free basic fighters. Every fighter tender's bay now flies free basic fighters. They cost nothing to launch or lose, are rebuilt on their own and fly out again by themselves, and hurt fighters come home to be repaired. Fighters are tougher on bigger tenders.
- Fighter Bays. Tenders have a new bay slot for the Fighter Bay S, M and L, each also in Improved and Advanced versions. The bay sets how many wings you fly and how fast they launch, rebuild and repair. New tenders come with a basic bay, and tenders you already own have one fitted.
- Fighter craft. The Bodkin Mk II, Bodkin Mk III, Bodkin Skirmisher and Bodkin Lance are built at the fabricator and loaded per wing in the Strike wings block, like ammo. A built craft is used up when it is lost. Bays and craft are traded, listed and stocked like any module or ammo, and both have new icons.
- NPC carriers launch fighters. NPC carriers and boss broods now launch fighter wings that fly by the same rules as yours, with better craft on tougher ships. Their wrecks can drop fighter craft and craft or bay blueprints.
PvP
- Drive strength. Every hull now has a drive strength by its size, and a tether must pull at least that hard to hold it. A light tether pulls 1 and a heavy tether 3, and each ship counts once, so a few small ships can no longer pin a capital. The Ships window shows a hull's Drive strength.
- Drive Anchor. A new tether module for heavy warships and larger, strong enough to hold big hulls. It locks its own ship's drive while it pulls.
Squads and clans
- Squad travel orders. The squad leader can send the squad to a place from the flag button on the squad block or Send squad here on any place card. Members travel with one click or Decline, or turn on Follow leader's travel orders in Settings, and the leader sees who is on the way.
- Leadership and station transfers. A clan leader can offer leadership to a member, who can accept it, and the old leader becomes an officer. A station owner can offer a player station to another pilot the same way, and the station moves as it stands while everyone's own goods stay theirs.
- Clan vaults are safe. Vault deposits are now recorded for each member. Closing a vault or disbanding the clan gives every member three days' notice, with Take mine back and Cancel, and then returns each member's deposits and ships to their own hangar. Leaving or being removed from a clan returns your deposits at once, and you can always dock at a player station toll free to collect your own goods and ships.
- Clan events. The clan window lists the clan's leadership history, newest first.
- Retainer Office. A new clan station upgrade opens a Retainer Hall at the clan home, with the system's retainer companies and prices, for every pilot the station lets dock.
Ships
- More landing gear. The Spolia, Dolmen, Cenotaph, Antiphon, Carrion, Cataract, Menhir, Quiver, Sanctuary, Tradewind, Dunlin, Longsight and Trebuchet now lower landing gear from bays built into their hulls.
- Black heat tiles. Heat tiles on ship bellies are now near-black ceramic with deep bevels, as on a real spacecraft. On the Spolia, Dolmen and Cenotaph they cover the belly with a crisp line against the light plating, and the Spolia's hazard stripes are sharp.
Aether paints
- Five animated paints. Gloamvein, Rimefall, Mirrortide, Ebbmarble and Nullhalo join the Aether paints, each with a moving look of its own.
Languages
- Nine new languages. XETODUS now speaks Latin American Spanish, Czech, Hungarian, Hindi, Serbian (Latin), Dutch, Romanian, Hebrew and Greek, in the game, the website and the Game Guide. Hebrew reads right to left. Text that still showed in English in the other languages is translated too.
Settings
- Settings sync. Your Gameplay, Accessibility, Controls, Chat and Interface choices now follow your account to every device. Each device can turn sync off, and the Gameplay page is split into labeled sections with hints and a Reset button for each.
- Frame-time graph. Click the FPS readout, or turn it on in Settings, Graphics, to see the last two minutes of frame times with your average, 1% low and worst frame rate.
Improvements
- Tactical tree. The Tactical list is now a tree grouped by type, with ores grouped by ore and headers you can fold. Trade posts sit under Stations, gates and free station sites under Sites, single asteroids under a new Ores filter, belts under Belts and Scrapfields under their own filter. A flat list is one click away, and your saved filters and presets carry over.
- Mining keeps to your ore filter. Auto-mining and Next ore now mine only the ores your Tactical ore filter shows, and stop with a message when none is left.
- Mining under fire. With return fire off, mining keeps going when you are attacked, with a warning that names the attacker.
- Named ammo presets. Launcher ammo presets have names, New, Rename and Delete, and can be linked to a saved build. The Hangar picks the linked preset when your active ship is fitted like that build.
- Switch to yearly. Vanguard members on a monthly card plan can switch to yearly from the Vanguard panel. The panel now says when your plan renews, monthly or yearly, or when it ends.
- Market prices. Every order book row shows the order's own price as placed, sorted by price. Fees and the delivered price are in the row's tooltip and the trade panel, which tells you when a courier fee is more than the sale.
- Market chart. The price chart in the item view and the sell sheet now shows every trade, including trades with trade posts, for 24 hours, 7, 30 or 90 days.
- Feedback window. The feedback window is a normal window you can move, it stays open when you dock or undock, keeps your draft, and has a My feedback tab with your reports. Staff can now reply there, and a reply shows with a dot until you read it.
- Result cards stay open. Loot rolls, the insurance loss card and duel results stay open until you close them, even through a respawn or a jump, and their notices can reopen them. Windows now stay open when you dock or undock by default.
- Jettison amount. Jettison asks how many to drop, with a field, a slider and 1, half and All.
- Share into chat. Share in chat and Share my route put the link into your open chat box, so you can add a line before you send it.
- Player stations in pickers. The Cargo finder and Sell from here show player stations by their names and find them by name.
- Drone Bay. Drone lists show pictures instead of live models, so the Drone Bay opens much faster.
Fixes
- Smoother frames. Ships with landing gear no longer cause long stutters when they come into view, and the Auto frame limit no longer holds high refresh displays far below their rate in big fights.
- Salvaging quests. Quest wrecks to salvage show in Tactical and can be stripped with your salvage module, which now works the wreck you select and says why when it can't. Quest raiders now leave a wreck you can salvage.
- Menus and chat. Menus, drop-downs and the ammo preset picker no longer close when a new chat line scrolls the chat.
- Clan home at a player station. Making a clan station your home now works from the station header, and the Homeward Tether takes you there.
- Taking off to orbit. Holding Space to leave a planet now climbs nose up at full throttle, so heavy ships reach space in minutes.
- Fitting. The stat difference lines in the module picker and the Fit button are no longer cut off in short windows or longer languages.
- Market. The order book no longer shows a negative price for small sales.
Balance
- Drive Ballast. Each fitted Drive Ballast now also adds 1 drive strength.
- NPC fighters. NPC fighters hit much harder than before, and groups that cleared the big bosses still clear them in the same time.
